This is how I roll. . .

What a week! I have never been so excited for a weekend in all my life. This week I officially returned to work and Gray started daycare. There have been many adjustments. . .waking up EARLY in the morning, switching to disposable diapers for daycare, pumping & more pumping (sorry if TMI), snotty noses (yep, already), sleepy mommy and baby, sad and lost mommy without her sidekick, and trying to squeeze my big butt back into my uniform! Ugh, the joys this week has brought!
Grayson actually seems okay with the whole daycare thing. He is such a social little kid, so I think he enjoys all the new faces and the different interactions. I am definitely more tore up about this than he is. He has three different ladies that look after him, and I can already tell which one is his favorite. His smiles for her make me feel a little bit better that he is being well taken care of. Dad is the one that drops him off in the morning and picks him up. I work further away, and my schedule can really vary, so this seemed to be best for us. Plus, it saves me from dropping him off and feeling quite so guilty.

On Monday I took him in for a half day, but I didn't have work. This worked well, so I could stay for awhile see how things are, and then leave for a couple hours and get a few things done. I had to run to the mall for an errand and found myself in Gymboree buying clothes to exhaust my guilt. Like Gray really cares! Anyhow thank God for coupons and sales. . .that place is expensive. Don't they realize they only wear these things for months! At least that is what Steven tells me every time I see a baby fedora that I am dying to get Grayson. I walked out with a cute little Winter hat and mittens set, which he needed, and new pants and a shirt. He really did need some Winter clothes. Really. On Monday evening I did a Project Learning Tree program and thus really began the beginning of me returning to work. At least I returned doing one of the things I love most. Once I got back into the office on Tuesday the whirlwind began. I have been cleaning, sorting and deciphering everything that has gone on since I was gone. This may take awhile. . .
There where some great things that happened this week too, that kept us grounded. Some of our friends, Janet and John, came by Thursday evening and brought dinner. We were so thankful. Yummy, barbacue tofu! Then later that evening Grayson rolled over for the first time! We new it was coming so we have been working a little each night at it. He was so proud of himself, and hasn't stopped since! Friday night after I laid him down, we heard him talking and laughing, so I went in there to see what he was doing. That crazy little monkey, he had rolled over and looking out 'the jail bars' of his crib. It was like he had discovered a whole new world and was so excited. I'm pretty sure he was talking to his frog humidifier too. It has a green light on it, so it grabbed his attention. He really is enjoying his new discoveries. Sense of wonder, you don't realize how much you lack it, until you see a child have it.
Well we are ready to enjoy our weekend, and prepare a little better for next week. Gray is four months old today and I have to soak up each second before the next month flies by.
One second at a time, as someone has told me. She also said, face it, your kids are an addiction. Yep, Elizabeth, they are. Everyday with him is a whole new high.

First time seeing Santa. This was at a holiday show Steven was selling his vinyl jewelry at.

Zonked out!

  1. I am so glad to hear all is going well at daycare. You are right, he will enjoy it! Sounds like he has already made some friends. I can't believe he is rolling around already. What a big boy. He's going to be crawling next time I see you!!! He's adorable.
