Franklin

This weekend we headed out to Franklin to stay at Mam-moo and Pop-pops place. Minus Mam-moo and Pop-pop. :( It's so nice to have a FREE getaway in the mountains. Thank you Moo!

We got in after dark on Friday, so we weren't sure how the leaves looked, but on Saturday morning we woke up to their brilliant show. Grayson was enjoying a lazy morning in bed after our snuggle time, so mommy got to enjoy a baby free and quiet breakfast with dad. It was perfect!

Later in the day we headed to downtown Franklin for the Pumpkin festival, complete with pumpkin rolling! We had a great time, enjoyed the people and costume watching. We saw clever costumes like a jellyfish, freudian slip, and a carton of milk. The pumpkin rolling is the big event at the festival. You purchase a mini pumpkin and roll it, crossing your fingers that yours rolls the farthest in order to win the $100 prize. Some of those pumpkins traveled up hill!

Into the crib. . .

Grayson moved into his crib this week. . .and mom and dad moved into the nursery. Mommy wasn't quite ready to be without little man nearby. Baby steps. . .or mommy steps in this case! Eventually I will be ready to be in another room, but it may be a few weeks. . . or months from now.

Grayson turned 11 weeks this Wednesday. He spent the day at a Baby and me group and having lunch with dad. At the baby group, it was the 1st time Grayson took notice of other babies. He is around other babies quite a bit between our breastfeeding group and his infant massage class, but normally he is too taken with the nurses to pay attention to much else. Each milestone and change is so exciting. I feel like I am seeing the world all over again. He really is something else. He is getting so big, and is changing every day. At our last doctors appointment he weighed in at 12 lbs 9 oz. I can't wait to see how much he'll weigh at the breastfeeding group tomorrow! I've already started packing his clothes away as he is growing out of them so quickly. Some of his 3 mo. outfits are already starting to get snug! It's hard to believe my little man will be 3 months soon.

Grayson playtime

Last week I sent mam-moo a short video of Grayson holding his head up, but it was only a few seconds. All too quickly moo let me know that, that just wasn't enough. So here you go mam-moo.



Grayson is also talking much more now. I hear him in the mornings or after naps when he is by himself, just squealing, gurgling, and having a good time. Not sure what he's so excited about, he's just a happy baby. We are so lucky to have such a happy, sweet baby.
Last night was our anniversary, and Aunt Nicole, Sophia, and Caitlin came to watch Grayson for us so we could have a night out. It was so nice to have dinner by ourselves, talk about our day, and not be watching over Grayson the whole time. A dinner without a paci, or rushing so that we finish before he wakes up. Thank you Nicole, Caitlin and Sophie B!

2 month vaccinations

Grayson had his two month check-up today, including his first round of vaccinations. Grayson of course handled it like a champ, better than mom. He weighed in at 12 lbs 9 oz, putting him in the 75th percentile for his weight, his head was a whopping 41 cm, also 75th percentile, and his height was 23 in putting him in the 50th percentile. So all around he is doing really good and is growing like a weed. Mommy is just glad his head wasn't that big from the beginning!
Grayson was done crying before we left the doctors office, but was definitely not feeling good the rest of the day. One minute he feels fine and is smiling and playing, then the next he is upset again. He also has run a fever, as the doctor said he probably would. I finally gave him some childrens tylenol to help. After the tylenol, a cool bath, and nursing, he was ready for bed. As always we have a full weekend planed, so hopefully he feels better soon.

Autumn at Oz

I had never been, but always wanted to go, so I figured now is the time to take advantage of my free weekends. Steven just happened to have a cowardly lion costume from a play he was in in high school, and I found a cute little lion costume at a consignment shop. So the two dressed up and we headed up the mountain. It was a beautiful day, and we had a blast. Grayson loved all the people watching he got to do!

This week Grayson turns two months! I can't believe it. He is doing so good. On his Sunday morning skype call with mam-moo he was so alert, smiled and even talked back a little. I bet mam-moo's Grayson fix carries her through an extra day. I'm sure she'll be bragging to someone about it! Mam-moo is good for bragging on her loved ones.
The temperatures have finally cooled off around here, so I hope to get out as much as possible with him now. It will do me some good too. Still have some baby weight to lose!
